AND with the Thunderstorm that's about to hit us I probably won't get this posting finished either before the power goes off !!!
W.A.W what a week !!! and I think the fact it was a short one made it even harder to fit everything in !!!
Wednesday we were back to school/work etc... plans for a normal day and then we got a message from Aunty Irena ... June was in hospital ... suspected MEASLES !!!! seems Johannesburg is having a bit of an epidemic and she was up there 2 weeks ago on a conference and the docs think she may have contracted it there ... Mum and I went to visit her ... and poor thing looked terrible ... covered head to toe in spots ... she was in quarantine !!! we had to wear whole face mask get up etc.... Doctors said Kelsey could not visit/go near her for at least the next 3 weeks !!! Teenagers are a high risk ... even though last week the Govt. Health Department had been to all the schools in our area and given the kids booster inoculations...
Poor lamb ... and she was feeling so sorry for herself too ... said she would give the yes vote for Euthanasia any time and she'd be the first guinea pig ... right there and then ... she was really sick.
After our hospital visit the rest of the day just flashed by ... pick up, homework, and then off to rugby ... Kelsey's left foot is giving him a bit of a hard time ... he hurt it last week in cross country and even though it's been bandaged up etc ... he's still limping about on it ... did that stop his practise ... NO
Thursday morning I spent at school helping TMC get ready for FFD which is coming up Saturday 8th May ... before you knew it ... it was pick up time again ... homework again, dinner again and bedtime again ...
Friday -The Remedial Unit at school had a (Fund Raising) Moonlight Picnic ... remember a few blogs back me telling you about that naughty left arm of mine that shoots up when they ask for volunteers ... well this was for one of those occasions ... Grade 7K - Kelsey's class were allocated the 'Boerewors Rolls' as their contribution to the picnic ... SO my morning was taken up running around collecting fresh rolls, the meat etc ... only to get to school for pick up to be told even more people had replied so there I was back getting even more meat & rolls (if only they had listened to me in the first place .... soap box ... I told them to cater for at least 250 ... after all we could freeze any left overs etc. for Saturday FFD !!!! NO that was way too much over catering ; only been catering all my working life duh ! Well gang guess what ... we sold out of 'Wors Rolls' sent someone out at 6pm for more and even sold out of those and still turned people away !!!! OK end of rant ... off Soap Box)
But the evening was a HUGE success and a great time was had by all .... so gonna do better next year oooH I won't be at that school next year (Mrs K that's Kelsey's teacher - says she has my number !!!! ;-)
Saturday morning saw us all up at sparrows fart !!! RUGBY !!! finally Kelsey got to play a game ... HPS vs Chelsea Prep ... Kelsey said it was so funny listening to the other side shouting for him !!! Get it ???? Chelsea trounced the younger teams but 2nd's (the best= our team) cleaned up nicely ... HPS 27 /Chelsea 14 ... go Greens ... I believe the 1st Team also won but I don't know their final score !!! (Don't care ... ooooh )
Then for my sins I promised Kelsey & Jason (a.k.a Harry) a trip to the movies ... to see Iron Man 2, (I had to dash home on Friday night after the picnic to finally watch Iron Man 1 !!! otherwise they couldn't see 2!!! ) Well we never got to see 2 ... SOLD OUT ... so they twisted my arm (literally) to go and see Clash of the Titans : 3D (hello motion sickness again !!! ) But it was a damned good movie ... I enjoyed it and I was pleasantly surprised at the boys' knowledge of the Greek mythology !!!!
I finally collapsed into bed on Saturday around midnight warning them both (yes Jason had a sleep over) that if I heard 1 word from them ... I think both of them passed out long before I did !!!! (Jason's team had also played rugby that morning).
Sunday and finally a blissful lie in ... except Jason's parents were collecting both boys around tenish to go the Marina to a boat show !!! But I was up and at 'em ... got lots of beading to do and things to get sorted for this coming Saturday ... did a lot of my usual ... Procrastinating and very little else !!!!
And so endeth last week ... Oh no some news ... Aunty June does NOT have Measles ... she just had a VERY BAD allergic reaction to a course of anti-biotics the doctors gave her !!! She's at home but still not 100% ... hoping to pop in and see her sometime this week ... (erm not sure how to fit it all in .... buzzzy buzzy buzy !!! )
AND it's my Wedding Anniversary today ... hence the lovely flowers from the ever romantic husband = Paul ... thank you Darling ....
And on a final note ... Thunderstorm has been and gone and we still have electricity ... things are definitely looking up !!! LOL
