Friday Philosophy!

Have you ever noticed how you have those days or moments where you just STOP and wonder about THINGS ???

I've had quite a few hectic crazy busy weeks ... but feel like I'm no further forward than when I started out ... but not too sure where forward is anyway ???

I was sat here last night as the sun was setting and looked up into the sky and thought WOW ... just look at those colours ... why can't we reproduce a scene like that ??? So it was out with the camera and tried to capture what I saw on film ... it never looks quite as good in a photo ... but just by having the photo makes you remember how magnificent nature can be ...


Then look at the sky this morning ... this photo was taken at 6.55am ... beautiful don't you think? ... BUT what does it mean ??? Red Sky at Night AND Red Sky in the Morning ??? Or is it just a beautiful sunset & sunrise ???

(Don't think sister, it's way too dangerooos !!!... I'm reading a book 'The Crystal Skull' and the prophesy of the Mayans 2012 !!! Maybe I'm getting a little too intense ??? PMSL)

Anyway its much cooler today ... and it was after all 28c yesterday so it could all just be weather related and winter is coming ...

We have another busy weekend ahead ... Rugby on Saturday (oops did I mention that already, the tablets are not working so well today) and then Sunday we have the 2010 Comrades Marathon ... so all the roads in our area will be closed ... yippee!!! an excellent excuse to stay in bed at home !!!! (Like I really need an excuse???)

Just gotta add this thought for the weekend:

Victorious once Again !!!

What can I say ??? Our boys played a phenomenal (big word that one!!!) game yesterday and returned home victorious ... beating Ashley Primary 24-0 ...

All the teams won yesterday ... the U11's won 27-5 and the 1sts cleaned up with a huge victory of 62-0 ... Hillcrest Primary Rocks on the Rugby Field !!!

Kelsey was absolutely shattered by the time we got home last night ... and the body was well and truly battered ... his bruises ... I gotta take some pics of those ... we are calling them his 'Medals of Honour' ... everyone of them earned in a good battle on the Rugby Field.

And then we do it all over again on Saturday... I think his team are finally getting to work together as a team ... this is what frustrates me the most ... just as the kids start to work together the term is over and the kids move onto another sport next term ??? They only do Rugby for 1 term a year ... doesn't make sense to us senseless???

That's one of the reasons I'm glad he's also playing club rugby cos they play from July - September, so sorry guys ... you'll be getting bombarded with photos of him in club rugby for the rest of the year ...

So sad ... gotta find me something else to do ??? Eh?... What?

And I just have to mention my lovely MUM ... she stayed at home yesterday and knew we were going to be coming in late, cold and hungry so she had a huge pan of broth ready for us when we walked thru the door ... OOOO Lurverly stuff !!!!

OH Forgot to mention ...!!!

We're back off to Rugby AGAIN this afternoon ... playing against Ashley Primary ... it's an away game so I better get the Sat Nav out !!! that's if I can find IT never mind the place ...

Will probably bombard you with photos again of my Sports Star if Blogger will let me ... still having aggro trying to load some photos onto Facebook for some of the other mums !!!

And they (whoever 'they' are) say that this technology is supposed to make our lives easier !!! WTF my blood pressure rises every time I even think about loading photos !!!.

AND Kelsey is playing Rugby YET AGAIN on Saturday ... whoop whoop !!!

Well what else do I have to do with my time ????

I have been doing other things too !!!! And believe it or not ... Crafting !!!

We only have 2 weeks left of this term soooo ... I needed something the girls could complete relatively quickly and without too much fuss !!! (Some of them still managed the fuss !!! WHY is it kids can't measure !!! According to the teachers they ARE taught how to use rulers ... ooops was that Juno who made a 'faux par' this time !!!! he! he! she'll do anything to have a 2nd try !!!)

Told the gals ... we're doing Maths 101 again ... how to make a Square Box out of an Octagon ...

So here's my sample of the Peek-a-Boo Box (original design courtesy Craftwork Cards UK, sorry Sue but as I don't have access to your wonderful products I had to improvise and draw a template for the kids to use)

Mine's not 100% finished (now there's a surprise)... still need to add my journalling and some embellishments ... any guesses which mum is going to be getting this ??? Only when it's complete of course?

First cut out the Octagon and the lid ...
Score from corner to corner along the straight sides ... I made marks in the sides that needed to be scored ... this is where Juno didn't quite understand ... 'the straight sides' (I mean it makes sense doesn't it ??? Does to me. LOL)
Fold along the score lines... and 'voila' you have a box and a lid ... now ink around the edges ... cut patterned paper to fit inside your squares ... I used 10 squares and I inked around the edges of these too ...
Adhere the inked squares of patterned to the 5 squares inside and the 4 squares on the outside, don't forget the lid.
Your box is then ready to decorate even further ...
You can add photos of your choice to the inside ... or messages (to get my photos this small I used the 'thumbnail' prints that you get with your processed prints). When you take the lid of the sides fall open to reveal your 'secret'...

I have used these boxes before for Easter and put a Creme Egg inside the box ... (now that's a nice surprise)

And they all finished it in 1 easy peasy lesson ... oh! S?&t now I have to come up with something for next week ... also easy for a single lesson !!!!

Having some blogger issues ... sorry photos keep getting lost in cyber space ???? and so does half of my waffle !!!!

Sunday also saw me having another bit of a 'spending spree' breakdown ... ran out of the letter O so just HAD to pop into the local warehouse !!! and well ok! kinda bought a bit more than just 'O' ... (what budget ???? so I'll eat bread with no butter for the rest of the month !!!! SORRY Paul but I just had to have o's !!! Anyway Aunty June was there to keep me from over spending ... blame her not me !!! ;-0)

Any way I'll try again either later or tomorrow to finish my story of the weekend ... If blogger or my internet will let me !!!! ;-)

Weekend ??? Wot weekend

***EDITED- Blogger stuffing around again so had to post this very quickly before I lost it all AGAIN for the 2nd time this morning !!!! ****

Who the hell stole my weekend??? And it seems they stole Monday too ???

Saturday saw me as a Rugby MUM ... unfortunately our boys lost again - to Westville and I've seen so much rugby this weekend I've kinda forgotten their score but I think it was 14-0(sounds about right !!! oops should be a bit more organised !!!) I know they were disappointed that they didn't get any points on the board ... BUT I have to say they played an awesome and incredibly fierce game ... lots of testosterone etc. out there on that pitch.

Our 1st Team was winning 24 -0 BUT their match was stopped as there were too many injuries and there were not enough first aiders and back boards available ... that's how rough their game was ... when you watch Rugby on the TV and you see the professionals going into those scrums and rucks and it's just feet and fists !!! Hell it's like that in real life too !!!!

Uncle Lawrence popped over to give Kelsey and his team his support ... and pointers too ...thanks Uncle L

Then on Sunday Kelsey and I went along to support Villagers Junior Rugby Club ... they were having their home tournament ... it is so different when you watch the different age groups and how they develop by age ... friends of ours, son is in the Under 11's and there team has won their league outright and there's still a couple of matches in hand ... so quite a few proud parents there !!! Sometimes I do wonder if it's really the kids that WANT to play rugby or is it the parents ... re-living their missed youth???

No so Victorious ....

But they played an incredible game !!!!

Unfortunately I think our boys were still riding high on their win from last week that they went into this match a little too 'cocky' thinking oh! these boys are only the 4th team and we're 2nds and we're undefeated .... ooops they came back to earth with a bit of a hard knock !!! But Hillcrest didn't walk away without something on the board ...

BUT credit has to be given to Highbury ... they played very well ... didn't give up at all and we were defeated 21-7.

So we have a few deflated team members ... and unfortunately there was a lot of finger pointing and blaming ... but hey in every game their is a winner and a looser ... our boys just didn't want to be the big L !!! LOL

Mind you our 1st team did the school proud and beat their 1sts 17-7 ... and boy was that an incredible game ... my throat was hoarse from all the screaming !!! And it was tough from the first whistle ... seems neither side was willing to give an inch ... and the match was as fierce at the end as it was at the beginning !!! (oops sorry rabbiting on a bit ... but still on the adrenalin rush from yesterday !!! ;-)

Hello Wednesday ... Again

Well gosh ... dare I say it ... but another crazy couple of days ... and I seem to YET AGAIN done nothing ... No actually I have done something this week ...

Monday I managed (with a couple of paid ... not-so willing helpers LOL) to unpack the whole garage (only 697 boxes ... so what's the problem) ... re-pack and still not find any more space !!!! PMSL .... ;-)

The idea was to re-pack it in such a way that I can put up the grid walling, stands and tables and un-pack some of my craft stash so I can photograph it ... take stock etc ... and then get my ready & waiting web site up and running !!!! Soooo not this week ... better luck next week ... HA! HA! BUT I do know where all the craft boxes are now ... definitely all packed together ... no mum you can't get any of your winter woollies out EVER ... not this year anyway !!! ;-)

Oh! I forgot to mention ... on Monday afternoon Kelsey & I went for his interview for High School ... we soooo want him to get a placement at Hillcrest High in their ELSON unit (the name stands for something, something, Extended Learning something, something or other) Smaller classes within the main stream High School pretty much along the same lines as the Remedial Unit at the Primary School .... but he will sooooo do well there and they have all the usual sports available and he really wants to go there ... I want him to go there too ... Now we have to wait the outcome of all the interviews as they only take 16 kids per year ... one thing on our side is that they do give priority to kids from Hillcrest Primary School and one of the ladies Kelsey goes to for extra lessons knows one of the ladies who teaches there etc. etc . {hopefully the old adage of it's not what you know but who you know !!!! hey even if I have to make the odd bribe .. threat ... a mum's gotta do what a mum's gotta do eh? }

Yesterdays Crafting class went well ... they sort of finished their 'masculine' pages (Father's Day is coming up in June!!!) (some of them wanted to take them home to finish off there ) ... but I forgot the camera so sorry ... no photos this week, but I have asked Juno to send me a copy of her completed page so we may get photos yet !!!!! And it seems I have a new convert - scrapbook addict !!! yup Juno ... I think the bug has finally bitten !!!!!Or maybe the penny's dropped LOL.... Well she does have a gorgeous new baby to photograph !!!

This afternoon I'm back playing Rugby Mum ... HPS 2nds vs Highbury 3rd's ... will definitely have more photos for you later ... or tomorrow and then on Saturday we are Rugbying again !!! HPS 2nds vs Westville Primary 2nds !!! If this doesn't make him fit then nothing will !!!!

Sorry just gotta mention the weather ... it is gorgeous ... yesterday the temperatures rose to almost 30c again ... in fact at the moment it is better than it is in Summer cos we're getting the heat without the stuffy humidity ... best of both worlds ... Today is a little cooler started out around the 17c mark this morning and only expected to rise to 26c today ... it's always a bit cooler on Rugby days LOL ... we'll probably need jackets by this afternoon PMSL !!!!

aaaaargh ....

I hate living on this complex !!!

I have told mum & Kelsey that once we have our own house ... if I EVER! EVER! EVER! suggest moving into a Complex EVER! again someone must please shoot me OR lock me up and throw away the key !!!!!!

It is like living in an open prison ... you may have the freedom to move around but there are soooo many rules and a bunch of OLD FARTS with God like complexes who feel the need to ruin every ones life and fun .... Even mum has to ask if they were ever young and made mistakes ??? Did they ever have a childhood or do they even know what fun really is ????

In fact I have already told them all here at least a dozen times that they should NEVER allow families to live on this complex !!! After all the kids aren't allowed to do this... they are not allowed to play here... there... don't walk on the grass... don't ride on the roads !!! In fact stay hidden away in your prison cell and don't be seen or heard and you may be allowed out early on good behaviour !!!!!

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! will someone please buy my house in the UK so we can finish building ours here and get the hell outta here !!!!!

I am slowly going MAD !!!!!

So ...

The weekend is upon us ...

Had another crazy Friday ... it was Anne-Marie's birthday (she's one of the Mums Committee Mums !!!) and we always celebrate our birthdays having coffee or 'breaky' or some such thing (hey any excuse to meet for coffee !!!) ... And Friday is such a short day anyway ... cos the kids finish at 12h20 ... so that was our morning !!! Tough I know but someones gotta do it !!! ;-0

Kelsey went to rugby practice Friday night ... but no sleepover this weekend ... we have lots of visiting to do !!! ? !!!

I've decided on another colour change ... supposed to be Crazy Plum ... I REALLY WANT PURPLE HAIR ... mum says it looks Burgundy (WTF is the woman colour blind ???) It turned out a lot darker than I expected but I'm sure it will turn 'purple' eventually ... maybe I should add some blond hi-lights to it now ... Mmmm? It may then go green ... cool ! green hair wouldn't that give everyone something to talk about ???

2 other people in this house and do you think either of them know how to take a damned photo ???? Mum said it would be so much easier if they didn't have me barking orders at them !!!! (who can she be talking about now ???) AND after taking about 50 odd photos do you think 1 of them could have told me I had lipstick on the teeth??? ;-) But we had such a laugh trying to get a decent photo of me and my damned new hair colour ... and then it was decided that dad needed a new photo of the two of us ... we started out trying to be ooo soo0 serious ... I think we achieved that don't you ? (don't ask ... it's a long story but I will tell you it has something to do with an advert on local TV)

Started some scrapbooking ... prep really for Tuesday's class ... doesn't every ones bed look like this when they are scrapping ??? You'd swear I don't have a table ... well actually I don't it's full of beading stuffs ....

And talking of beading ... look at these lovelies ... my latest invention ... Inspirational Bracelets ... I sold out of these at our FFD so I thought I'd have a go at some more in different colours ... getting a little adventurous wouldn't you say ???

Well I've booked a stall at another school for the 5th June ... the HCA Winter Fair. Thought it would keep me out of mischief ... and considering I have thousands of alphabet beads !!!! gotta find some use for them ... you know me never do anything in small quantities !!! only work in 1000's !!!! If I'm gonna do it it's gotta be totally OTT !!!(PMSL)

Saturday was spent visiting Uncle L, Aunty P and the kids ... (good excuse to pop into La Lucia Mall for more bead shopping ... did I say that out loud ???) Lawrence hasn't been well ... he's been in hospital for a minor op ... won't go into too much detail here or the man will kill me if I discuss it on the web ... but other than being in a lot of pain ... he's on the road to recovery ... typical man ... gotta have the worst symptoms and the worst pain etc. etc. Why is it women can just get on with it ???

And then today we're visiting Aunty June ... oh you know her saga ... she had measles!!! ... then didn't! !! ... well actually she did !!!! You just gotta love the SA medical profession. She's been really sick ... went back into hospital because the lungs were full of 'measles' too so the poor woman has had 3 weeks of in and out of hospital ... but she's now been given a clean bill of health and so we're gonna go make her day miserable !!!! LOL

The mind just couldn't cope with the 1 day off in the week thingy ...

This morning the alarm goes off ... I switches it off and turns over and goes back to sleep !!! Oh! No !!! Needless to say I had a bit of a lie in and then all hell broke loose !!!

Thankfully I have another alarm set at 6.20am to remind me to give Kelsey his final kick in the A. to get out of bed ....

"How come one can get ones A into G when one is running so late BUT when one has so much time on ones hand one phaffs about and ends up being late ???? "

And ones face was put on so much better this am tooo !!!! PMSL ...

Victory !!!!

Yesterday I was a Rugby Mum again ..

Our boys (HPS 2nds) vs Kloof Primary School (2nds) (Rugby Buddy Jason's school, but he plays in the 1st team) and we beat them 40 - 7 !!!! Just a little bit of a 'white wash' ...

AND Kelsey scored his first TRY ... he is so chuffed and I am soooo proud of him ... just goes to show what you can do when you set your mind to it ... (I managed to get some shots of him in action on this, then coach stepped in front of me ... and I got so excited that he'd scored the camera got a bit wobbly, so some of them are a little blurred !!!!LOL)

So of course tons of photos for all to see .......

Nearly there ...

Today we are not at school ... Ascension Day ... our school put in a request for today off and the Dept.of Education granted our request so ... it is nice to have a mid-week break !!!! ;-) Had a nice long lie in this morning (till 8am !!!) ... well went back to snooze after I put the washing on at 6am ... the sun is shining so gotta get the washing out !!!! ;-)

Kelsey is vegging in his Pit ... watching movies ... although he has another project to finish ... but I said I'd only start nagging him after lunch ... after all we do homework in the afternoons !!! No rest for the wicked I guess !!!

I had a huge long list of things I wanted to do today ... but it is amazing how fast the day goes when you don't have to go anywhere or do anything except your 'to do' list . In fact getting up at 8am means half your day is gone .... LOL

Its noon already and all I've managed to to is transfer yesterdays photos to my computer ... just about managed to blog this (if only you realised just how SLOW our internet is here ... no wonder so few people bother to post photos !!!) and that's it ... (moaning Myrtle again) ... lol

And now it is 13h05 and I'm still waiting for the last photos to download !!!! See how slow this is !!!!
