A Tribute to a wonderful dog and best friend always!

Sadly Aunty J had to say a final farewell to her wonderful 'son' Winston on Friday.

He had not been well for a couple of weeks and eventually we plucked up the courage to make a trip to the vets. After tests the vet came back with the news we did not want to hear, he had become diabetic and was showing symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer. The vet advised Aunty J that if it was his dog he would not want to see him suffer, so sadly Winny was euthanized on Friday 27th February...

We all miss him terribly, especially Aunty J who has had him since he was a puppy. He was 12 1/2 years old and has been a devoted and loyal friend to June. He was such a lovable character, always entertaining us with his antics. Indi and him became firm friends from the minute they met, in fact I think Winny was so proud to have found himself a 'younger woman' !!!

I remember we took Indi to the beach one day and while we were out Indi met up with 'Jack & Eddie' my brothers 2 dogs, when we got back home Winny did'nt want anything to do with Indi for a couple of hours cos she'd been out 'with other boys!' (well that's what it looked liked anyway, it was so funny to watch the 2 of them)

Indi loved to give Winston 'kisses' but he always looked at her as if to say "bugger off I can't be bothered with all that nonsense" , but give Winston a tennis ball and he was the happiest dog around... In fact Indi and him had a few 'words' over the tennis balls...

We will all miss him very much and our love and best wishes go to Aunty J.

Remember : 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life - like loving everybody all the time and being nice. Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.'

If a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride, allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
